"The general mobilization of the Sardinians is growing day by day, with a broad array ranging from the Regional Council to Parliament, from trade unions to businesses, from emigrants to the world of culture, against an emergency that repeats itself every year and which has distant origins and well-defined responsibilities, those of the insensitive Brussels officials who wanted and forced us to cut frequencies and reject the single tariff».

Thus the president of the Region, Christian Solinas , comments on the situation of territorial air continuity for which the Regional Council, with the Department of Transport, is making an extraordinary effort to urge the companies to increase flights and control ticket prices below the Christmas holidays.

«The responsibility for this situation – Solinas reiterates – lies in the macroscopic errors of assessment by the EU on the ability of the free market to guarantee the right to mobility of Sardinians. The failure of the European model is certified by the facts. Now the Commission listens to us and lets us re-propose the model that I obtained as councilor ten years ago: more frequencies on all airports and a single tariff at least 9 months out of 12 with a price cap for non-residents in the remaining 3 months».

The theme of air territorial continuity was also one of the main topics of today's session of the Special Insularity Commission of the Regional Council, which was attended by the regional councilor for Transport, Antonio Moro.

«There is a need for a Sardinian model of continuity - underlines Moro - close to the needs of the Sardinians, which arises from the comparison with the other models that have established themselves in Europe in recent years and also takes into account the best solutions already adopted in Sardinia in previous tenders. With Brussels there is more of a political problem than a technical problem and that is why a great unity of the Sardinian system is needed to reaffirm in Europe the inalienable right to territorial continuity for our Island».
