Continuous flights to and from Sardinia are increasing . Today the Joint Monitoring Committee met, chaired by councilor Antonio Moro , to plan an expansion of flights in view of the summer and take stock of the air traffic trend in recent months.

«With the companies - announces Moro - we have planned new flights, with respect to the provisions of the tender, which add up to those already added from April 1st to today. In particular, Olbia-Fiumicino will have a doubling of flights from 1 June: the tender envisaged 3 and there will be 6 (4 operated by Volotea, 2 by Aeroitalia). Alghero-Linate has already gone from two to three flights , also guaranteeing the 7 o'clock one, loudly requested by citizens and operators in the area. Furthermore, 6 connections have already been activated on the Cagliari-Linate route compared to the 4 planned» .

In the last two months, between 1 April and 22 May 2023, the councilor reports, 670 flights were operated on Cagliari Fiumicino compared to 656 in 2022 , on Cagliari-Linate 457 instead of 453 and on Alghero Linate 282 against 214 , 6 thousand passengers more than last year with a load factor of 55.77% (52.90 in 2022).

"On Alghero Fiumicino - adds Moro - the recovery of traffic by Aeroitalia continues: on Olbia Linate the number of passengers transported and the load factor are already higher than in April 2022".

«Strong attention – concludes the exponent of the council Solinas – also on the possible critical issues for the long weekend from 1st to 4th June next , which promises to be very hot also due to the concomitance with the airport handling strike scheduled for Sunday 4th June».
