Conte in Sassari: "Meloni should deny the US the use of the bases. She's doing nothing about the high fuel prices."
The Five Star Movement leader makes a swipe: "The prime minister shouldn't involve Italy in the war, no to military action in Hormuz. Gasoline? She just raised excise duties."Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
"The Meloni government must reject any involvement in military action in the Strait of Hormuz and must not offer its bases to Israeli and US attacks, which violate international law. Meloni must also reject our bases, not even for logistical support."
Five Star Movement President Giuseppe Conte attended the University of Sassari for a debate with students on the March 22-23 referendum. In the press briefing preceding the meeting, he addressed the critical issues surrounding the conflict in Iran. "This government is inactive, has raised excise taxes, and is doing nothing, with a war underway, about fuel prices, which have skyrocketed." On the possible withdrawal of Italian troops: " We have been in Lebanon for years with honor and discipline, on a mission that brings prestige to the nation. We are concerned about what is happening. However, we are trying to honor the United Nations mission until the very end, hoping that the attacks will cease and our troops will not be exposed to danger."
Then the referendum issue: " We must say no, because we don't want a policy that is preordained by the judiciary . The judiciary must apply the laws to everyone, even to politicians who, as they are demonstrating, want to protect themselves from investigations." "It's a crucial reform for them," he continues. "They've done nothing for the citizens in these four years, but a lot for investors, foreign investment funds, web multinationals, and for banks and insurance companies. Nothing for the citizens. A defeat would be a resounding slap in the face. If the 'yes' vote wins, they would push for the prime ministership."
Conte then addressed the center-right's criticism of the management of healthcare in Sardinia . "The center-right shouldn't be speaking out; it's ridiculous. We inherited this situation from them. A great deal of work is being done, but it can't all be resolved in a few years and months . Consider the 100,000 recalls for waiting lists, the result of the government's great work. Or the completion of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) project on home care. Finally, an interesting measure, offering a financial incentive of up to €2,000 for family doctors to relocate to sparsely populated areas."
Finally, on the coalition's stability on the island: "If there are any tensions, they must be resolved. Everyone must understand that this is a great opportunity, not for the individual party but for Sardinia. " Does the Democratic Party say we're going nowhere without them? "Very true, but it's a platitude. They're going nowhere either. No one has an absolute majority. The alliance must be respected."
