Signed today in Monza, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and for the Sardinia Region of the Vice President of the Regional Council, Giuseppe Fasolino, the agreement between the Regions for the configuration of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces as a common body .
"The strengthening of the system of autonomies, within the framework of the legal and economic unity of the Republic, will favor the transition of the public administration as a whole to a higher stage of effectiveness and efficiency, an essential condition for the maintenance of the institutional system", he explained the President of the Region, Christian Solinas, recalling how «the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces has demonstrated, over the course of forty years of history, that it knows how to interpret the very delicate role of political composition and mediation between territorial and national interests, in a logic sincere cooperation".
"The legislative and constitutional recognition of the Conference as a common body will allow for the creation of a fruitful and closer debate between the Region and the Government on important issues for development ", argues the vice president of the Giunta, Giuseppe Fasolino.
«While the State-Regions and Unified Conferences are recognized legislatively and regulated by law - continues the exponent of Giunta Solinas - the functioning of the Conference of Regions is still based on internal regulations. The Presidents of the Regions have therefore decided to start a process for the legislative and constitutional recognition of the Conference which has led, with today's agreement, to the first stage of this important process which will lead to the configuration of the Conference as a common body of the Regions". concluded the vice president of the Giunta.
The further stages will be the approval of the agreement with the law of the individual Regions and subsequently with the national law . The last step will be its inclusion in the Constitution.
