Alessandro Abis , 66 years old from Villasor , is the new president of Confagricoltura Cagliari.

Abis takes over from Luca Sanna who, in addition to leading the provincial, was also at the regional head of the category organization in recent years.

The new president, an agricultural entrepreneur specialized in the cultivation of cereals and fodder and also in the breeding of beef cattle, is a historic territorial manager of Confagricoltura of which he was vice president for the province of Cagliari. To his credit, always in the provincial sphere, he has about 20 years of experience spent in the board of directors of Confcooperative and the presidency of the Villasor fruit and vegetable cooperative.

"This is a new challenge: I thank the former president Sanna for the excellent work he has done and the associates for the trust they have placed in me", he said, "the commitment that this role requires requires dedication and a lot of work so that we can best represent over a thousand agricultural companies in southern Sardinia. Today we must face new and historic problems that slow down the development of the sector : from the lack of manpower for companies, to a generational turnover now reduced to a minimum. We must also consider the emergency linked to the climate crisis and the extraordinary atmospheric events that increasingly loom over the agricultural world. This picture is also compounded by the problems linked to the delays and management of bureaucracy, both regional and European, which take away precious time and energy from production activities. The new team, with which I will face the next three years of our category organization, is compact and proactive in supporting the activities of the countryside".
