«The presence of wildlife represents an unacceptable tax that costs agriculture around 200 million euros per year in direct and indirect damage». Not to mention the risk of swine fever outbreaks and road accidents with deaths and injuries caused by wild boars or other wild animals.
This is the new alarm launched by Coldiretti, which has been mobilized for a month now to ask for urgent measures
The association has also released the "map" of the specimens present in the various regions: in Sardinia alone there are around 100 thousand, more or less the same number as in Abruzzo and Sicily. A situation, the one in Sardinia, which is defined as "critical, especially close to protected areas".
Calabria is the most "invaded" region, with around 300 thousand wild boars present, while in Puglia there are up to 250 thousand, as in Lazio, while in Tuscany around 200 thousand roam around.
An increasingly large population, underlines Coldiretti, which, as mentioned, causes devastation and hundreds of millions of euros of damage.
