Even the companies in the Nuoro and Ogliastra area are paying a very high price for the heat emergency in Sardinia.
According to Coldiretti, the heat peaks have also left a trail of damage in the center of the island and in all productive sectors.
At the moment the most serious repercussions are recorded above all for the wine and vegetable sectors , with the growing suffering also for livestock.
From an initial estimate by Coldiretti on a survey carried out in the area in these hours, it is the areas of Jerzu, Cardedu, Loceri, Tertenia, Gairo and Osini that are most worrying but it is the entire 2023 harvest in Ogliastra that risks being compromised with, only at the moment, 50% of production heavily damaged by the heat.
There are many producers who are trying to do everything possible to save what is left, even using irrigation systems, but in many cases the grapes have already burned and the plant is also burdened by an exponential fall of the leaves. In this context, many Municipalities are already deciding on the state of natural disaster.
Serious losses, especially in the Barisardo area, also on watermelons, melons and tomatoes, but the livestock sector is already in extreme pain with the heat waves that are putting a strain on livestock, especially poultry farms. "Hundreds of hens have died on the Liccardo Contu di Jerzu farm in the last few hours," the association said.
