«I was born on the sea, in Cagliari. At borders I prefer horizons, for this reason, for me, who am Sardinian, Italian and European, it will always be the time of challenges, courage and commitment ", writes Claudia Medda in her social biography, to say that she is a candidate with the Third Polo di Renzi and Calenda in the single-member college of the Senate of Cagliari. Forty-five years old, passionate about volleyball (which she practiced at a competitive level), degree in Law, lawyer, employee of Intesa San Paolo, she was municipal councilor for technological innovation and the environment from 2016 to 2019, Giunta Zedda.

What has he done since then?

«I went back to my job in the bank and I continued to do politics: I joined Italia Viva, I am the provincial coordinator. We have continued to communicate the results achieved by our parliamentary group, especially Minister Bonetti's Family Act ».

What chance does he have of making it on September 25th?

«You have to ask the voters, I see enthusiasm for our project, we are the main supporters of Mario Draghi and“ his ”PNRR, and we were instrumental in the fall of the Conte government. We strongly claim these two elements. Ours is a new, liberal, reforming political offer based on seriousness and competence ».

Objective?

"Limit the advance of the right as much as possible and avoid a sovereign government."

A danger, in your opinion?

«Someone talks about fascism, but I actually see a concrete economic danger for our wallet. They offer recipes that we already know and that have done a lot of harm to the country ».

What do you propose instead?

«In our program there is a very articulated part dedicated to young people. We want to bring compulsory schooling to 18 and bring the term of high school up to school, to give children the same opportunities as their European peers. Full time in primary and more canteens, university citizenship, zeroing taxes for those under 35 who start a business and personal income tax up to 25 years ".

And then?

«Strong investments in health care, reduction of waiting lists, reorganization of territorial assistance: giving all citizens equal access to treatment. Again: energy transition, work, citizenship income reform, minimum wage ».

How are you campaigning?

"In addition to social networks , I am meeting many people and listening to the administrators, my college is vast - it includes 124 municipalities in the provinces of Cagliari and South Sardinia - but I know it well. The real challenges pass from the cities, from here the revolutions that impact on our daily life start ».

Is politics always macho?

“If we look at roles and assignments, yes, little progress has been made. But my party is at the forefront: each territory is coordinated by a man and a woman ».

But we could have Giorgia Meloni premier.

“You have an idea of a country inspired by Orban's, and that's enough for me. We have totally different visions, the fact that she is a woman does not console me at all. "
