Scenes of urban guerrilla warfare were seen this evening at the Euganeo stadium while the first leg of the Serie C Italian Cup final between Padua and Catania was underway.

A group of Sicilian ultras, during the interval, broke down the gate of their sector, entering the stand occupied by the biancoscudati, throwing smoke bombs and destroying the banners. Others invaded the pitch, throwing firecrackers from there.

The police immediately intervened with charges in the north curve to stop the violence.

The officers, after restoring calm, took away about ten Catania fans. The match resumed after a 15-minute suspension.
