World premiere at the Lazzaretto in Cagliari for “Il Pescatore”. The short film by Ugo Garau will be the protagonist tomorrow, starting at 8:30 pm, of the fourth and final event of the Waves Festival, dedicated to cinema and productions linked to the territory.

In competition this year at the David di Donatello and the Tropea Film Festival, the first work as a director by the actor from Cagliari, born in 1983, who wrote and directed the film in which he also stars as Vincent - the fisherman in the story - will be presented and screened during the evening event that will be divided into several moments, among which the meeting with Garau stands out, who will talk with the other guests who participated in the making of the short.

Filmed in Cagliari, at the Porticciolo vecchio di Sant'Elia, in 4 days in June last year with the precious collaboration of the Cooperativa pescatori Sant'Elia, “Il Pescatore – The Fisherman” tells the story of the loneliness and difficulties of Vincent, a fisherman from Cagliari who has lost hope and faith in others and in life. “One like many others, who is unable to express his pain for a loss that has struck him with the people around him, and withdraws into himself, taking refuge in alcohol,” explains the author.

"I wanted to tell the story of the extreme difficulty of a man, an anti-hero - adds Garau - who does a hard job but is vulnerable, and who, one step away from hitting rock bottom, asks himself: "Is everything lost?". The answer comes when he least expects it, just as it could happen to anyone. Just as tomorrow's screening will reveal."
