The 2024 edition of Cinema delle Terre del Mare continues in the historic center of Alghero, and on the most beautiful beaches of the Coral Riviera, the festival of the Humanitarian Society of Alghero which until Thursday 25 July offers meetings, music, screenings and shows sea.

Saturday at Bombarde

The program on Saturday 13 July opens with one of the trademarks of the festival, the first of two film tourism itineraries to discover the profound link between the Alghero area and great cinema, to preserve and enhance the audiovisual memory of the city, and relaunch the candidacy of Alghero as city of cinema in Sardinia.

Then meet at 9.30 am starting from Scalo Tarantiello, for a walking tour on the paths traced by Antonio Simon Mossa, an internationally renowned architect with a passion for cinema, and by Fiorenzo Serra and Arturo Usai. Under the guidance of Nadia Rondello, cultural operator of the Humanitarian Society, a journey through stories of farewells and returns, of ancient fishermen and of a sea that is both wealth and damnation. On Saturday Cinema delle terre del mare then moves to the beach, at Bombarde, with entry at 10pm from the J&B establishment, for the screening of Afire – The sky burns by Christian Petzold, Silver Bear and Grand Jury Prize at the Festival of Berlin 2023. The story of four young people who, during a hot summer on the Baltic Sea, find themselves trapped in a holiday home, ending up getting closer and wanting each other.

Sunday in Lo Quarter and Nuraghe

Sunday 14 July we return to Lo Quarter, in the conference room, where at 6pm the director Gianluca Vassallo presents his first feature film: The Chair, the story of a grotesque civil and family via crucis, in an almost transfigured Sardinia, through its demons and those of the contemporary world.

At 9.30pm an extraordinary event takes place, both for the setting, the Nuraghe of Palmavera, and for the scheduled event, the Miss Show Business listening experience: storytelling, music, theatre, video and new technologies edited by musicteller Federico Sacchi. The show tells the painful and poetic story of Judy Garland, one of the great voices of American song.
