A month-long spotlight on Genoni. A film workshop and artistic residency, it's all about rediscovering and promoting small villages, but also much more. Tomorrow, starting at 6:30 PM, the former Convent of the Minor Observant Friars in Genoni will host the final evening of the Genoni CineFactory, a project curated by Angelisa Castronovo and Antonino Moscatt's Wellsee and dedicated to cinema, audiovisual storytelling, and the cultural regeneration of local communities. This evening, the event features a special guest: Michele Placido. This is the final stage of a journey that, over the past few months, has brought together young filmmakers, audiovisual professionals, tutors, artists, and the local community in an experience of training, production, and cultural exchange in the heart of Sardinia. The renowned actor and director Michele Placido will be the protagonist of a public event dedicated to the relationship between cinema, society, and beauty, in dialogue with the evening's institutional and cultural guests.

An ambitious and important project, CineFactory was created with the goal of transforming the Sardinian town into a permanent hub for cultural and cinematic experimentation, capable of connecting contemporary creativity, territorial development, social inclusion, and community participation. The focus, therefore, is not only on the involvement of participants and cultural professionals, but also on the relationship between cinema and the local area, through workshops, public meetings, opportunities for discussion, and audiovisual productions produced during the artistic residency.

THE PROGRAM

During the evening, a panel entitled "Cinema, Society and Beauty" will be held, with the participation of:
Patrizia Corbo – Piccolo Principe Social Cooperative of Busto Arsizio
Sister Silvia Carboni – Attorney General of the Missionaries of St. Jerome Emiliani
Don Marcin Schmidt – Scholas Occurrentes Foundation / Aldeas

This will be followed by the final screening of the artistic residency's works, including backstage footage, short films, local commercials, and audiovisual content created during the CineFactory Lab's activities. Artistic direction will be entrusted to Rai screenwriter Pier Paolo Piciarelli, who will guide the audience through the presentation of the materials produced by the young authors and directors involved in the project.
The event will also be an opportunity to celebrate the role of cinema as a tool for social interaction, participation, and regeneration, in keeping with the philosophy that guided the entire initiative: making culture a driver of collective growth and the valorization of inland areas. The "Pappa Beni" food truck will also be present, offering local products and food; proceeds will be donated to charity.

The initiative was carried out as part of the “Genoni – Creative Residence and CineFactory” project, funded through the PNRR – National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Mission 1 “Digitalization, innovation, competitiveness and culture”, Component 3 “Tourism and Culture 4.0”, Measure 2 “Regeneration of small cultural sites, cultural, religious and rural heritage”, Investment 2.1 “Attractiveness of Historic Villages”, promoted by the Ministry of Culture and funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
