After two tough matches, won without dropping a set, Jannik Sinner had an easy ride against Felix Auger Aliassime and got rid of the Canadian number 28 in the world in two sets with a score of 6-0, 6-2 in just over an hour of play .
The South Tyrolean thus reaches the semi-final in Cincinnati , a Masters 1000 tournament of which he is the reigning champion: now he is called upon to put an end to the fairy tale of Terence Atmane , the Frenchman number 134 in the world who started from the qualifications and got here by beating players of the calibre of Taylor Fritz and Holger Rune.
After dominating and winning the first set in 27 minutes, the world number one had a small lapse at the start of the second set, when he dropped serve with a double fault and immediately went down 2-0. But he quickly re-established the hierarchy with a run of 12 points to 1 , then broke the Canadian's serve for the umpteenth time and closed out the set by leaving his opponent with crumbs, with another run of 6 games to 0.
Among the women , Jasmine Paolini advances, beating Krejcikova 6-1, 6-2 and advancing to the quarterfinals where she will face Coco Gauff, who defeated Lucia Bronzetti in straight sets.
