Everything went according to plan: the director Riccardo Milani had assured that from February 20th he would open the set of his new film in Cagliari (with the provisional title "La vita va così") focused on a story of universal value but which takes its inspiration from a news story that is very well known on our Island, much less so in the rest of the country even though even the New York Times covered it.

Or rather the story of Ovidio Marras (who passed away last year at the age of 93) who defended, with all his strength, his lands from the appetites of those who were ready to build a mega luxury resort on the seashore. So yesterday in via Ancora the shooting began with one of the protagonists, the actress Virginia Raffaele, at the center of the scene for a work produced by Wildside and Our Films and distributed by Medusa.

"An ironic and passionate story spanning twenty years, set in a wonderful corner of Sardinia, where a community finds itself caught between the dream of work and the defense of the territory and its identity," we read in the previews.

The filming locations

The scene takes place inside a law firm. The set is sealed off, journalists are not allowed to access it. Another filming location will be the Castello district. For now there are no official communications and everything is left to rumors.

But the film set will soon involve other areas of the city, including Piazza Repubblica. Later it will move to Teulada and various areas of its magnificent coast. This is because Sardinia is for the director Riccardo Milani «a place I am attached to and that I have frequented since the mid-70s. The people have such a particular and strong identity that it was impossible not to find inspiration to tell what I like to tell most: humanity» . This is what he declared to the magazine Ciak, the bible of cinema, before the start of filming and in the wake of the success of his docu-film "Nel nostro cielo un rombo di tuono" dedicated to Gigi Riva and his human journey even before his sporting one.

The Sardinian cast

Meanwhile, the presence of some Sardinian actors emerges, among which Jacopo Cullin, Gabriele Cossu and Massimiliano Medda stand out.

While the role of the character inspired by the figure of Ovidio Marras is entrusted to Ignazio Mulas, a non-professional actor who actually plays the shepherd . There is also a large presence of local extras chosen after the very crowded auditions that were held at the Lazzaretto di Sant'Elia, in Teulada, Pula and Domus de Maria.

The protagonists

The composition of the cast of national professionals is certain and, in addition to Virginia Raffaele (already directed by Milani in the film "Un mondo a parte"), it sees the presence of a pillar of Italian cinema, Diego Abatantuono , and that of Aldo Baglio of the famous comic trio which is completed with Giovanni Storti and Giacomo Poretti.

Life Goes That Way, written by Riccardo Milani and Michele Astori, is produced by Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Mieli for Our Films, a Mediawan group company, and by Sonia Rovai for Wildside, a Fremantle Group company, in association with PiperFilm and Medusa Film, who will co-distribute it. PiperFilm will handle international distribution.
