This year, Sardinians will spend about 207 euros per person on Christmas gifts. And 6 out of 10 will not fail to dedicate themselves to solidarity and charity initiatives. This is what emerges from the report by the Confcommercio Research Office.
Among the most popular gifts among consumers on the Island – explains Confcommercio – are food and wine products, toys, books, clothing and beauty products.
73.4% plan to spend on food and drinks, while 10.9% will allocate a portion of their spending to party accessories.
As mentioned, 63.2% instead say they want to dedicate themselves to charity initiatives during the Christmas period.
"We are not far from the national average, but what reassures us this year is solidarity - explains the director of Confcommercio Sud Sardegna Giuseppe Scura - There are numerous initiatives for the weakest. So in addition to the traditional expenses, there are also those who will donate part of their earnings to those who are most in need".
According to a survey by Confcommercio, shops in cities contribute to creating a festive and sociable atmosphere for 76% of those interviewed, followed by Christmas markets for 72%. Over half of those interviewed prefer to shop in stores near their home. "Finally, in line with online shopping, the desire to support the local economy and work is back," concludes Scura.
