A new type of “slow and sustainable” tourism in Sardinia. A model of “experiential tourism between cultural itineraries, villages, paths and pilgrimage destinations”.

Gianni Chessa , regional councilor for the branch, spoke about it today during the presentation of the first edition of the event “ We walk in Sardinia ”, which will take place from 5 to 8 October.

"We want to put the themes of slow and sustainable tourism at the center of the promotional proposal: identity and traditions, welcoming territories and a sense of community are values of our land that we intend to promote in the national and international market", said the exponent of the Giunta Solinas .

“This event - recalled Chessa - is part of the enhancement actions regulated in the memorandum of understanding signed in January by the Tourism Department and the Sardinian Bishops' Conference. It will be a journey into the most authentic heart of Sardinia , to rediscover the historical and identity routes traveled over the centuries by pilgrims, admiring uncontaminated landscape scenarios and crossing small realities where hospitality is sacred. A mix of culture and spirituality, nature and well-being, a sense of community and hospitality, to make this design strategy a unified, structured and winning proposal with the aim of capturing a particular segment of tourist flows, especially in the low season ". In short, Sardinia is not just the sea and wants to become a tourist destination in other seasons as well.

The Sardinians were used to settling down on the coast, because 80% of tourism is for the sea . Our slogans, however, are not by chance, we go beyond the sea for a Sardinia lived all year round ”, Chessa relaunched.

In the days of "We walk in Sardinia" journalists, walkers, photo and video reporters, guides, experts in the sector and representatives of local institutions will travel "at a slow pace" different itineraries that will involve various municipalities: Borutta, Carbonia, Dorgali, Galtellì, Genoni , Gesturi, Iglesias, Laconi, Luogosanto, Orgosolo, Porto Torres and Sant'Antioco .

At the end of everything, on Saturday 8 October at 11.30 a conference will be held in the Benedictine monastery of San Pietro di Sorres in Borutta.
