The Stadium is not for the faint-hearted: after Inter's 4-3 draw, they drew 4-4 against Borussia Dortmund. It all happened in a crazy second half, with Vlahovic and Kelly finally bringing the Germans back in the 94th and 96th minutes. Tudor made three changes compared to the match against Inter: Kalulu returned to defense and allowed Gatti to rest, Cambiaso returned to the left flank, and Openda made his starting debut. Koopmeiners dropped to midfield and Locatelli settled into a spot on the bench, Vlahovic and David also took turns, but for the first time the former Lille player played a few meters further back, on Yildiz's line. Kovac entrusted the weight of the attack to Guirassy, a player with 15 goals in his first 18 career Champions League appearances, and in support he placed Beier and Adeyemi, long linked with the Bianconeri during the summer transfer window. Also in the stands were Italy coach Gattuso and Montella, and the match opened with a right-footed shot from Thuram deflected by a German defender and Kobel flying to tip the ball into the top corner.
Juve then lowered their center of gravity, compacted their defense, and handed control to Borussia Dortmund, who, however, dominated possession without creating any real chances. On the half-hour mark, David was fed by Yildiz and unleashed a left-footed shot that went over, but it was this incident that gave the Bianconeri courage: Tudor's team closed the first half with more frequent attacks in the opposition half, despite crashing into the German defense. The second half began with no changes, and Borussia Dortmund immediately sent a message to Juve, with Beier escaping Kalulu, beating Di Gregorio, and hitting the post from a tight angle. The Bianconeri, however, remained unconcerned and fell short shortly afterward when Adeyemi had too much space to cut inside and find the opener with his left foot.
The blow is heavy, Guirassy has a huge chance to double the lead immediately but crashes into the outgoing Di Gregorio. Tudor recognizes the difficulty and brings on McKennie and David to bring on Joao Mario and Vlahovic. Once again, Yildiz steals the show: never before has it been an incredibly Del Piero-esque goal, with a soft curling right-footer just into the top corner.
No sooner had they celebrated than Borussia Dortmund were back in front, with Ademeyemi laying off the ball and Nmecha striking from outside the box. The game was now underway, and this time it was the Bianconeri who responded, with Yildiz providing the assist and Vlahovic making no mistake in front of Kobel. Everything seemed to be going Juve's way, but instead Thuram lost the ball, Di Gregorio was caught at the near post, and Yan Couto put the Gialloneri back in front.
The Bianconeri number 10 tries to carry the team on his shoulders again, but Kobel miraculously turns his long-range shot onto the post . In the 86th minute, hopes of a comeback seem to vanish when Guirassy wins a penalty for Kelly's handball (reviewed and confirmed by VAR), which is then converted by Bensebaini. Juve, however, never gives up, and between the 94th and 96th minutes, they find an incredible 4-4 with Vlahovic and Kelly. The defense needs fixing, but Tudor's team has a heart that's big.
