Since 1980 he has performed as a soloist with conductors and symphony institutions throughout Europe, America and Asia. The goal of a thousand concerts is now close. The pianist Maurizio Barboro will be the protagonist on Monday at 8.30pm in the Sassu Hall of the Sassari Conservatory as part of the "Spring Concerts" series organized by the Ellipsis association.
The program will be opened by the Sonata n°12 in A flat major op. 26, with the famous third movement “ Funeral March” on the death of a hero, by Ludwig van Beethoven, followed by the equally famous Chaconne from Partita n°2 in D minor for solo violin BWV 1004 by Johann Sebastian Bach, transcribed for piano by Ferruccio Busoni. The second part of the concert includes the suite Papillons op. 2 by Robert Schumann, the Prelude in C sharp minor op. 45 by Fryderyk Chopin and the suite Pour le piano by Claude Debussy.
Maurizio Barboro dedicates himself intensely to chamber music as a member of the Italian Piano Quartet (two 8-handed pianos) and of the De Giardini Ensemble (strings and piano), in a piano duo with Claudio Proietti (two 4-handed pianos) and frequently collaborating in duo with instrumentalists with an international career.
He has recorded the complete Piano Concertos by Shostakovich, the Sonatas by Liszt, Rachmaninov, Brahms, Franck, Shostakovich and Kabalevsky for cello and piano, works by Schumann, Brahms and Zemlinsky for violin and piano, original compositions for two pianos with eight hands. He also held the chair of Piano at the Conservatories of Sassari and Cagliari.
