"Worn out by the criminal case involving me". Massimo Cellino does not hide it. And in a letter addressed to the whole Brescia environment, he explains the reasons for his disengagement from the Lombard club.
“I hereby resign with immediate effect as chairman of the company and as a member of the Board of Directors, a resignation already announced and temporarily suspended in the board of directors. of 24 October 2022 – it is written in the letter -. The reasons for the decision, which I made after a deep inner turmoil, are both of a personal nature and related to the concern to guarantee the most efficient management of the club so that it can achieve the best sporting results ".
The personal story. Cellino also enters on a personal level: “ The criminal proceeding, in which I am involved and which has now lasted for two years, in the context of which the seizure order was issued which in fact involves Brescia Calcio, has now worn my serenity , necessary for the management of a complex company such as a football team. As regards, then, the interests of the team, to the difficulty on the personal level I mentioned above, it must be added that the existence of the kidnapping introduces a series of constraints that are difficult to reconcile with the flexibility and speed of decisions that a management efficiency of a football club requires. After all, I'm sure the team is stronger than you think and the results not achieved lately are the offspring of my state of mind which reflects on the team and I'm not saying this as a fan, but because of my many years of experience in football”.

For the future, the former Cagliari boss has clear ideas: "I am convinced that with my resignation the club will be in a position to identify, in agreement with the judicial bodies, a person who, with more serenity, will be able to bring the Brescia Calcio to those results that the passion of the fans deserves. This is why I add to my resignation the best wishes in sport, which I express with all my heart. I thank the members of the Board of Directors and of the Board of Statutory Auditors for their valuable collaboration over the years. I thank all the employees, the technical staff and the members of the team for the passion with which they have always worked. Finally, a special thanks to the fans, whose support for the team has never wavered. I also thank the judicial guardian - it is the closure of Cellino - for the availability shown ".
