The rich calendar of initiatives organized in Uta for the celebrations in honor of Santa Maria will begin on Friday 6 September , an event of inestimable value not only for the town, but for the whole of Sardinia, a combination of civil and religious importance, recognized by a large following of faithful and visitors who gather annually to admire and participate in the solemn celebrations.

"These are the days of the year most awaited by the entire Utese community, but not only - explains the parish priest, Don Roberto Maccioni - The preparation has been long and intense with a very attended novena, preached every day by a different priest. Santa Maria di Uta, with its Romanesque sanctuary and its park, has attracted thousands of faithful for centuries who seek consolation and comfort in suffering. It is no coincidence that, since time immemorial, this oasis has been called the little Lourdes ".

In fact, Friday will end the Novenario, a moment of prayer and reflection proposed by the parish, and the civil celebrations will also begin, which will merge like in a kaleidoscope with the religious ones. On Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th two solemn processions are planned through the streets of the town with arrival at the sanctuary of Santa Maria.

The celebrations are not limited to the spiritual dimension: from September 6 to 9 the program is full of events that embrace the entire spectrum of popular culture. Among other events, we can highlight the concert - on Sunday evening, after the fireworks display - by Nina Zilli and the speech by the "mayor of Scraffingiu" Alessandro Pili on the evening of Monday September 9 after 9 pm.

"Santa Maria di Uta is one of the most anticipated moments of the year for our population - underlines Nicola Sanniu, President of the Santa Maria 2024 Committee - and requires the responsibility of keeping alive the values of a tradition that has always involved all citizens".
