The Canto a Cuncordu group from Cuglieri will enchant the dawn in Castelsardo on Friday, August 28th, for the Musica sulle Bocche festival, directed by Enzo Favata. At dawn, Sos Cantores, a historic group of Cuncordu singing from Cuglieri, will greet the appearance of the star that warms and gives life with their melodies, somewhere between the sacred and the profane.
For seven years, the tradition of su Cuncordu has been the focus of one of Musica sulle Bocche's most beloved events: the Alba dei Cuncordu, the first of three consecutive sunrises in Castelsardo. After this experience in the heart of the medieval village, the festival continues with the Alba del Porto, featuring the town and its promontory overlooking the sea, and the Alba alla Roccia dell'Elefante, one of the area's symbols. The Alba dei Cuncordu is a traveling event that accompanies the audience from the darkness of night to the first light of day. Passing through alleys, small squares, and glimpses of the historic center, spectators will follow Sos Cantores along an immersive musical journey, where stone, sea, silence, and memory merge into a unique listening experience, an experience similar in pathos and lyricism to the Cantori procession during Holy Week in Cuglieri.
The Sos Cantores of Cuglieri are the protagonists of this special dawn, in memory of the late Giovanni Pinna, singer of Castelsardo, a key figure in the promotion and dissemination of singing in Cuncordu, Sardinia. The Sos Cantores represent an act of collective memory and cultural continuity: a tribute to an ancient tradition that lives on through the voices of men, the journeys of communities, and the sunrise over the ancient stones of Castelsardo.
