Opened on October 4th, on the occasion of the 21st Contemporary Art Day, due to exceptional circumstances, the Attraverso exhibition will be officially inaugurated on Saturday, October 11th, 2025 in the evocative spaces of the Doria Castle in Castelsardo.
Promoted by the Municipality and curated by Claudia Melis and Giovanni Manunta for Gebaude Galleria Moderna, the project reflects on the theme of education as a transition: an open, dynamic, and plural process in which experiences, languages, and generations meet and transform each other, in constant dialogue with the space and the community.
The works will inhabit various rooms of the Castle, transforming it into an itinerary of visions and sensitive crossings .
The event, awarded the Presidential Medal, is organized with the support of the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. "In line with the guidelines of our program, which sees culture as a cornerstone for community growth, this year Castelsardo has already had the privilege of hosting exhibitions by three of our region's most significant artists—Jacopo Scassellati, Pastorello, and Mariano Chelo—renowned and appreciated nationally and internationally. Two of them are also represented with works in this new exhibition, which further enriches the journey undertaken," emphasizes Mayor Maria Lucia Tirotto. "Traverso proposes an artistic team that brings together great Sardinian voices with other prominent figures on the national scene, offering the public a broad and stimulating perspective on contemporary art. We are delighted to welcome this project, confident that it will leave a significant mark on the cultural life of our city."
"The 21st edition of Contemporary Art Day allows us to renew our dialogue with today's art, a living and ever-changing language," says Councilor for Culture Maria Speranza Frassetto. "With this initiative, Castelsardo confirms its active participation in a national and international network that brings valuable cultural stimuli and allows us to showcase our village not only through its scenic beauty and its millennia-old history, but also as a place of openness and encounter. The Attraverso exhibition thus becomes an ideal bridge between the roots of our land and a boundless horizon."
The exhibition features artists from different generations and artistic languages : from Silvia Argiolas to Roberto Chessa, from Gabriele Colletto to Silvano D'Ambrosio, including Mariano Chelo, Maurizio L'Altrella, Pierpaolo Luvoni, Sergio Manconi, Max Mazzoli, Silvia Mei, Valerio Melchiotti, Elena Muresu, Vincenzo Pattusi, and even Pastorello, AmirahSuboh, and Dorotea Tocco.
