"This initiative is the result of one electoral failure after another. They published how many members there are, or rather how many there should be: they are halved compared to when I left, three years ago. This top-down management doesn't work, it's in decline. The M5S is in advanced old age. This event certifies the end of a dream. It seems like the final eclipse to me."
Davide Casaleggio said this on Omnibus on La7, commenting on the M5S Constituent Assembly. "Democracy from below is being abandoned," he added, "and the idea of letting members decide, and a democracy is being pretended. For example, alliances are being decided from above. It is a fiction to let 300 anonymous people decide the issues. We are talking about nothing from a democratic point of view. Those who organized this initiative defined what had to come out."
The owner of Casaleggio Associati, son of the founder of the M5s Gianroberto, then spoke about the votes underway at the Constituent Assembly of the 5s. "It is not known," he explained, "which notary should certify these things, the number of members came out yesterday. There is no guarantee board on this vote, other than the one assumed by Conte. In the last year there have been no notarial certifications on the votes, at least public ones. I have not seen any more."
Grillo, Casaleggio continued, "has asked for clarifications on questions, members, and so on. But the situation is a bit sad because there is a thought towards the future of the M5s that is excluding some of its pillars. It is an opaque process, from which a result will emerge that will not provide a boost. In the end, they are discussing whether to give a third mandate to the PD".
