Carnival in art with an initiative open to all. The National Art Gallery of Sassari from Saturday to 11 March offers a focus on authors and works that have dealt with the theme of carnival masks and the story of two artists and their paintings .

To welcome visitors, in the halls of the Pinacoteca in Piazza Santa Caterina, there are also some videos on regional masks and the most well-known characters, such as Arlecchino, Colombina and Pulcinella, often recounted in literature and theater as well.

On display some unpublished and exclusive works.

In particular, spotlights on the canvas from the collection of Giovanni Antonio Sanna, correctly returned to its executor, Francesco Lorusso, entitled " Woman returning from a dance " (about 1864), erroneously attributed to Giovanni Marghinotti.

Through a work of study and analysis, the behind the scenes of the Museum, which takes place on the collections, a work centered on the theme of Harlequin, Colombina and Pulcinella will be returned to the public : a magnificent unpublished painting by Mario Mossa De Murtas , from 1916 .

The Pinacoteca, with the occasion, intends to start a process of valorisation of the work of the artist from Sassari , travel and training companion of Giuseppe Biasi.
