He requested the release of his home, but the prosecutor rejected the request. Mariano Pinna, 87, would like to return to his apartment on Via Logudoro, in the Is Corrias area of Selargius, but investigators still consider it a potential crime scene—at least until the prosecutor's investigation is concluded. The elderly man is still under investigation for the alleged murder of Romanian woman Florina Florea , 67, who fell from a third-floor balcony on the evening of April 14th . His defense attorney, Carlo Monaldi, appealed the prosecutor's decision, and Judge Claudia Falchi Delitala has scheduled a hearing for October 12th.
The investigation opened by Deputy Prosecutor Rita Cariello is still ongoing: the results of the latest inspection by the RIS, the Carabinieri's Scientific Investigations Unit, are awaited.
