Five days of screenings, music, meetings and stories of the territory. The 2024 edition of the Carbonia Film Festival - organized by the Società Umanitaria di Carbonia under the artistic direction of Francesco Giai Via - is archived by renewing its relationship with the public through an ever-increasing number of spectators, without ever losing its intimate and social dimension, capable of breaking down the barriers between guests, public and staff, in favor of a conviviality that makes the experience a fertile space for ideas and discussion.

From 13 to 17 November, the best voices of Italian independent cinema alternated in Sulcis , from Francesco Costabile to Rosa Palasciano, from Silvia Luzi to Luca Bellino; and new perspectives on contemporary art, with the director Milad Tangshir and the cartoonist Majid Bita - Iranian authors transplanted to Italy; without however neglecting the great international themes, thanks to the Palestinian director in exile Mohamed Jabaly, who has been fighting for human rights through cinema for years.

Closing a multidisciplinary program as always was the concert of Dente , one of the most influential musicians of our singer-songwriter, after a long absence from the island stages. The cultural dimension of the festival is accompanied by the socio-economic one, with the involvement of 7 restaurateurs, 3 accommodation facilities, 2 venues, 3 high schools and a long series of professional figures. 15 technicians with various skills, photographers and social media managers, organizational staff, receptionists, ushers and drivers worked at the CFF, for a work group of over twenty people and a fallout on the territory made of relationships but also, and above all, of concrete economies and development of new skills.

The festival is over but not the projects of the Csc Carbonia della Società Umanitaria . The Carbonia Cinema Giovani Filming Lab is still ongoing, a project coordinated by the director Daniele Gaglianone and the tutor Chicco Angius, which involves six young filmmakers selected throughout Italy through a call for proposals: a team that will be working until November 25th to create a documentary. The initiative, now in its third edition, aims to continue to tell the story of a complex territory full of hidden riches such as that of Sulcis.

The exhibition that inaugurated the festival will be open until November 23 : Sguardi Plurali per un'Italia Plurale, set up in the spaces of the Biblioteca Comunale. A photographic exhibition that presents the results of a competition aimed at young photographers with a migrant background. The works of 24 authors from all over Italy are on display; several were born here, others arrived in our country when they were still very young. Some are refugees, others are Italian citizens, others are waiting to become one.
