Starting today, Sunday, March 1st, the Park's Environmental Education Center, located in the village of Stagnali on Caprera, will reopen. With the start of the new season and positive prospects for the area, guided tours and educational activities for residents, schools, and tourists will resume.
The Center offers a tour through three museums: the Sperm Whale Museum, the "Giovanni Cesaraccio" Geomineralogical Naturalistic Museum, and the Sea and Maritime Traditions Museum. The tour explores topics related to cetaceans and sea turtles, geology, minerals and fossils, as well as local history and the traditions of La Maddalena's maritime tradition. Tours are free and suitable for children.
The activities are managed by the Isule Cooperative on behalf of the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park Authority, in collaboration with the Giovanni Cesaraccio Pro-Natura and Italia Nostra associations – La Maddalena section. Following appropriate renovations, the Essential Oil Laboratory is also planned to reopen, and commercial management is being considered. Tours are completely free and suitable for children and school groups. Reservations can be made by contacting Irene at +39 388 9378451.
The National Park's three museums join the two Garibaldi ones, making Caprera not only Garibaldi's Island but also Museum Island; five in all!
