«Thanks to all of you, who placed your trust in us, who accompanied our electoral campaign with a word of encouragement, a smile, with concrete support» .

Ugo Cappellacci wrote this on Facebook, commenting on the result of the regional elections, which saw the defeat of the centre-right candidate Paolo Truzzu and the victory of the centre-left candidate Alessandra Todde.

Cappellacci himself, as reported by L'Unione Sarda, announced his intention to take a step back: «Considering that despite the success of Forza Italia (which won 6.3%, ed.) the coalition was defeated , I will resign as regional coordinator."

Then the post on Facebook: «Thanks to the candidates who put their face to it, to Forza Italia Giovani, to our leaders and to our militants. Thanks to those who spent sleepless nights, to those who went to glue the posters, to all those who worked away from the spotlight with great determination. Unfortunately, we have not given Sardinia a centre-right President and, having the sense of the institutions, we wish Alessandra Todde good luck in her mandate. But Forza Italia, the second national party in the coalition, has achieved an important result thanks to a team that stands out for its competence, passion and courage. Forza paris!”, concludes Cappellacci.
