The Royal Swedish Academy has awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature to Anne Carson, a Canadian poet and essayist born in Toronto in 1950.

The award was given to her, as stated in the citation, for "her bold and creative work which, in a playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has given birth to new forms for contemporary literature."

Among Carson's works published in Italy are "Come l'acqua" and "Era una nuvola" (Crocetti) and "Autobiografia del rosso" (published by La Nave di Teseo).
