A new regional law to clarify the parking areas for campers and which provides, among other things, contributions for the Municipalities that want to create equipped sites .
«With the resolution of the Giunta last October - explains the councilor of the Misto group Sara Canu , first signatory of the law - Sardinia will have an increasingly important role in this particular type of sustainable, low-cost tourism, open to the territories and able to overcome the summer season».
The new tender of the Region , explains Canu, assigns a total contribution of 1.5 million euros for the years 2022 and 2023 to the Municipalities that will present projects in this sector, both for the redevelopment of existing areas (up to a maximum of 15 thousand euros), and to create new ones (in this case the "threshold" rises up to 50 thousand euros).
For Sardinia, this is a significant opportunity, concluded the councilor, to expand and consolidate the tourist offer with «a new proposal which until now has been wrongly considered "minor", but aimed instead at a vast national and international clientele ».
«We are very satisfied – added the president of the regional Sardinian Camperisti association, Gigi Pambira – because the open-air tourism sector, in reality, is in all respects the “land landing” of those who choose, not only in the summer, to spend a holiday in Sardinia. It is a tourism with very interesting prospects which, however, needs quality services to develop and in any case, already today, has reached considerable numbers in Italy: 3.5 billion in turnover, 8 million Italian and foreign presences, 60 million overnight stays» .
In Sardinia, Pambira said again, «we don't have exact figures, but this summer around 65,000 campers landed in Sardinia between Porto Torres and Olbia and Sardinian camper owners number at least 5,000 . Indeed, in our opinion, the new law will allow this sector to grow in an orderly and capillary manner throughout the region , perhaps by networking all the structures and connecting them with other components of the tourist offer (nature, culture, agri-food, etc.)" .
Finally, the Mayor of Esterzili Renato Melis spoke of the "excellent results" of his experience, relating to a site of 1000 square meters and 10 workstations. "Thanks to the law we will redevelop the structure - he said - by providing new services such as the supply of energy and reception areas for animals". "It's a way - the conclusion - to include even small municipalities in the tourist circuit".
