Goodbye to tennis, without announcement or official explanations. Camila Giorgi retires from competition at 32 years old. She didn't write it on social media, she didn't issue any press releases, her name simply appears - with the date of May 7th - in the list of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) of players who have withdrawn and are thus released from the anti-doping protocol.

Her last match was the one she lost in Miami, last March 24, against the world number 1 Iga Swiatek (6-1, 6-1 result).

Camila Giorgi occupies 116th position in the WTA singles rankings. He was not on the entry list for the Italian Internationals and participation in Roland Garros was also in doubt.

After making her debut at a very young age, at just 14 years old, on the professional circuit, Camila rose to number 26 in the rankings (October 22, 2018) and has put four trophies on her board. She won the first in June 2015 on the Dutch grass of 's-Hertogenbosch (WTA 250). This was followed by the fast indoor one in Linz (WTA 250) in October 2018, the one on the hard court in Montreal (WTA 1000), the most prestigious, in August 2021, and the one in Merida (WTA 250), again on hard court, in February 2023. He has reached six other finals: Katowice and Linz 2014, Katowice (2015), Katowice (2016), Washington and Bronx 2019. In the Slams the best result is the quarterfinals at Wimbledon 2018.

Her father Sergio trained her, with whom she did not always have an easy relationship.
