The mystery of the appearance of Camila Giorgi has been revealed (perhaps), the Italian tennis player who vanished into thin air after retiring from competitions at the age of 32 without announcement or any official explanation.
According to what the Corriere reports , the athlete is wanted by the tax authorities : in recent days the men of the Guardia di Finanza were looking for her to notify her of a series of documents relating to tax assessments against her which gave a positive outcome (essentially, she has pending matters with the tax ). But they didn't find her.
Finance had summoned her last April 13 without receiving a response . It turns out, the Milanese newspaper reports, that his family also has problems with the treasury. There would be no tax returns filed.
His father, who was also his coach, is Argentinian, his mother Italian. The family has a villa in Calenzano, near Florence , the city in which they launched a fashion brand, Giomila, in September 2021. The same house where the same year, in June, a nocturnal robbery was perpetrated with a loot of at least 80,000 euros, while everyone was sleeping , the champion, her parents and her brother.
It is suspected that Giorgi has moved abroad, perhaps to the USA.
In recent days there was news of her withdrawal, after her name appeared on the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) list on May 7th among the players who had withdrawn and were thus released from the anti-doping protocol.
Then she literally disappeared: her phone untraceable, perhaps disconnected. He does not respond to calls from the Italian Federation and WTA , Fed Cup captain Tathiana Garbin also said she was worried: «The last time we spoke was before the Billie Jean King Cup and he did not give me availability to come to Seville with the team due to a foot problem. I hope that she is well, that there are no problems and that she has peacefully left this sport that has given her so much. I'm sorry because I can't hear you, I'm a bit worried ."
Great natural talent, Giorgi could have done more in her career but she was still the best among the Italians for many years after the golden era of Pennetta, Vinci, Schiavone and Errani, also winning (second Italian in history) in Canada a Wta 1000.
