The last appointment of the Calvinian Autumn is scheduled for Thursday 9 November, the dense program of initiatives promoted by the Botanical Garden of the University of Cagliari to commemorate the hundred years since the birth of the great Italian writer .
“Eva Mameli Calvino and the Botanical Garden of the Royal University of Cagliari” is in fact the title of an afternoon which – starting from a phrase by Calvino, “The geographical instability that continually makes me desire elsewhere” – will recall the strong bond between the writer's mother and the Botanical Garden of the Sardinian capital , which she directed in the 1920s .
«We conclude two months of meetings, readings and shows organized in collaboration with numerous cultural bodies and associations – comments the current director, Annalena Cogoni – The Botanical Garden of the University of Cagliari shows great vitality, both as an indispensable venue for teaching and research, but also as a place where the third mission of universities can take place, scientific dissemination which is part of our objectives. The many people who have crowded the Garden in recent months for the scheduled appointments demonstrate that the message has gotten through."
THE PROGRAM – At 4pm Marco Nateri and Aurora Simeone will stage a special tribute among the trees of the green lung of the University of Cagliari promoted by the Teatro del Sale. Following, at 5pm, in the Eva Mameli Calvino Hall, the director of the Garden, Annalena Cogoni , and the teacher Maria Cristina Secci will reconstruct the years that the writer's mother lived in Cuba and Cagliari, while “Science as a passion. Eva Mameli Calvino, a model of female excellence" is the title of the report by Loretta Marchi , former curator-librarian in charge of the Civic Museum and the Civic Library of Sanremo.
The evening will end with a round table in which some of the protagonists of the events that have taken place in the Garden in the last two months for the Calvinian Autumn will participate with the three speakers and the technical coordinator of the Garden Gianluca Iiriti: from Valeria Ciabattoni (CEDAC) to Fausto Siddi and Graziella De Vita (Associazione ArCoEs), from Chiara Vittone, Gilberto Ganassi and Mostafa GhoratoIhamid to Gerardo Ferrara and Raoul Moretti, from Aurora Simeone and Marco Nateri (Teatro del Sale) to Norma Gomez and Rossella Faa (for the ASD Tres Tiempos).
