Cala Domestica, in the territories of Buggerru (north) and Iglesias (south), is an enchanting beach, one of the most beautiful in Sardinia, dominated by the tower of the same name, built on the rocks in the 17th century.

Here, in the early decades of the twentieth century, a small mining village arose, of which the ruins still remain, as a railway reached it from the hinterland, for the transport of minerals and the loading on boats.

On the north side there is also La Caletta, a small beach sheltered from the northern winds, accessible by a short mining tunnel, where the little train passed.

The coast has high limestone cliffs of great environmental interest; the dunes behind the beach are also noteworthy.

Medium in size, the beach is endowed with a light and fine golden-gray sand. The sea is green and deep.

It is quite busy in the high season.

HOW TO REACH IT - From Masua take (on the right, signs) the road from Buggerru towards the north (or, alternatively, from the eastern outskirts of this town, follow the same panoramic view, obviously towards the south).

The deviation (westbound) to the beach, poorly marked, is identifiable because it is encountered when the main road crosses (after about six kilometers from Buggerru) a scenic valley, the only one of fair size along the entire route.
