Ten years of metal at Poetto
In a frenetic music scene, ten years of activity is a huge milestone for many bands: and Dancæstral and Loudstation are also celebrating it, joining forces on Friday at the Corto Maltese stage at 9:30 PM in Poetto. An evening of alternative metal sounds, ranging from progressive to hard rock, dedicated to their early days, starting with the title "When We Were Young."
Fabrik, between stoner and post-rock
Friday's evening at Fabrik in Cagliari will be another departure from the usual rock and metal fare. Starting at 9:30 PM, the show will feature Cagliari's Elepharmers, a trio moving between heavy psychedelia, astral rock, and desert stoner, and Thrøsk, a post-metal and instrumental project formed between Puglia and Sardinia, with influences from doom, atmospherics, and shoegaze.
The legendary Lou Marini at Bflat
The iconic saxophonist, member of the band that composed the soundtrack to the classic "The Blues Brothers," will be coming to the capital on Friday with his Italian Groovers: from 9:30 pm at Bflat, a rich repertoire of original songs and great reinterpretations of jazz, blues, soul, and funk, with Gianluca Di Ienno, Alessandro Chiappetta, and Enzo Zirilli on stage.
Danish-brand jazz
Cagliari's Jazzino program continues this Friday, with Danish musicians Lubos Soukup (sax) and Christian Pabst (piano) performing their project "Levitas," with touches of folk, jazz, and classical music, at 9:45 PM. For the occasion, the Copenhagen duo will become a quartet, with the addition of Matteo Marongiu (double bass) and Gianrico Manca (drums).
New eyes on the past
The final "New Eyes on the Past" event of the year will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Cittadella dei Musei. Francesco Serra will present funerary practices in Roman-era Sardinia. The series of lectures, promoted by the Kalaritano Archaeological Group, aims to study history through the lens of other disciplines.
The ancient cafes of Cagliari
A glimpse into daily life in the capital from the 18th to the 20th century, during an era of major urban, social, and even food-related transformations, of which Cagliari's historic cafés remain an important testament. The guided tour with Movidì Tour will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, departing from Largo Carlo Felice and following the traces of the city's past.
Remembering Ian Curtis
Forty-six years ago today, May 18th, Ian Curtis, frontman of the legendary Joy Division, tragically passed away at the age of just twenty-three. A legacy that has never faded, will be celebrated this Saturday at 9:00 PM at Cueva Rock in Quartucciu for the twelfth consecutive year. The stage will feature Neapolitan band Neila Invo, Genoese band Ainu, and local bands, followed by a DJ set.
Debut Saturday at Fabrik
A new addition to the large family of island stoner, Cagliari's Crobu are the band who will present their debut album "More Than This" live on Saturday at 9 pm at the Fabrik in the capital, accompanied by the very young power trio Toothless Unicorns and T-Bags, another very recent band that promises a mix of metal sounds and genres.
The return of Ruota Libera
On Saturday at 9:30 PM, the Corto Maltese in Poetto will host the return of Ruota Libera, a Cagliari-based combat folk group that celebrated fifteen years of activity last November. Seven years after their last album, "Tutto può cambiare," the band will present their new album, "Prima che finisca il mondo," with messages of freedom, community, and resistance.
"Flashback" from Japan
The Hardstation crew returns to liven up Amnesya in Cagliari on Saturday at 11pm, with their famous cocktail of hard techno, schranz, and industrial and acid pressure. They'll feature not only crew members Barbers, Barka & Taris, and Recycle Duo, but also renowned DJ and producer Kosuke Saito, bringing his powerful performances to the island from Japan.
Basstation's Subterraneux
Another Sunday of electronic music in the greenery of Campidarte, but with a completely new format: this time, Basstation will present "Subterraneux," focusing on the exchange between local artists and international guests in residencies. Live performances include Dutch artists Rambadu, Ness, and Wttm, with doors opening at 12 p.m. for the "Dialoghi Creativi 2026" exhibition.
"Nosus" at the Teatro Massimo
The Artisti Fuori Posto series is coming to a close, but not before the grand finale: at 8:30 pm on Sunday, the curtain will rise in the M2 room at the Teatro Massimo for the original production of "Nosus," by and starring Filippo Salaris, Piero Murenu, and Alessandro Pani in a dystopian opera on the theme of identity, featuring traditional masks and original music.
