A show that promises emotions, fun and joy: the romantic and passionate soul of bossa nova bursts with all its power onto the stage of the Teatro Massimo.
Tomorrow evening, Monday 19 May, at 9 pm Toquinho, one of the most extraordinary Brazilian guitarists and singers of all time, opens his national tour in Cagliari in the company of Camilla Faustino, one of the best voices of the “Nuova Mùsica Popular Brasileira”.
Having arrived in Italy in the early 1960s, Toquinho, who will celebrate his 80th birthday next year, has collaborated in particular with Sergio Endrigo, Sergio Bardotti, Ennio Morricone, Fred Bongusto and Ornella Vanoni, publishing over 90 records.
Last February, during the Sanremo Festival, he duetted with Gaia on the cover night, bringing to the Ariston stage the historic song by Ornella Vanoni “La voglia, la pazzia”, included in the album “La voglia, la pazzia, l'incoscienza e l'allegria” published in 1976 and created in collaboration with Toquinho and Vinícius de Moraes.
The tour entitled “60 years of career” will be the occasion to present the songs that have studded her long path of successes and will retrace the moments of the artist's history, paying homage to friends, composers and collaborators who have contributed to creating it.
A virtuoso of the classical guitar and a masterful interpreter of very difficult pieces from the South American repertoire, his vocal timbre is among the most characteristic of the international singing universe and his expressiveness, accompanied by the warmth of saudade carioca, immediately made him a much-loved figure for the empathy he transmitted from the stage.
In Italy it has been popular since the 70s, churning out one success after another.
Among his many collaborations, the one with Ennio Morricone is unforgettable: with the brilliant Oscar winner Toquinho he worked on the album "Per un Pugno di Samba", a meeting between the tradition of samba and the cinematographic art of the Italian composer.
One of his greatest successes is Acquarello, an award-winning song that topped the charts for many weeks in both Italy and Brazil: an exceptional melody that Toquinho also performed on the stage of Sanremo as an international guest of the 1983 edition of the singing competition.
An unmissable evening for lovers of great music, organized by Sardegna Concerti with the artistic direction of Massimo Palmas.
