Dried flowers (in Su Siccu), flowerbeds where the grass reaches half a meter (in Buoncammino), branches that dangerously stretch out over pedestrians (in Terrapieno), green areas just born within urban redevelopment projects where the vegetation is “wild” (in via Dante). Premise: you see a lot of English lawns in Cagliari, it's true.
In addition to the city parks, the roundabouts are also almost all perfectly maintained. But there are streets and neighborhoods where maintenance, for one reason or another, is lacking.
"The service works continuously," says Councilor for Public Green Luisa Giua Marassi. "The month of May is generally the most critical from the point of view of maintenance of city greenery as companies have to deal with the end of the seasonal pruning period and the first mowing in view of the summer season.
The 2025 vintage was characterized by a little more precipitation which, combined with high temperatures, led to a higher than normal proliferation of vegetation . The public green service and companies are intensifying interventions to resolve critical situations", he adds.
But for the next two months we also have to deal with the resources available: because the old contract is now expiring, there are very few remaining funds, and until the new one comes into force, in short, we will have to grit our teeth.
