Cagliari is ready to welcome an event that unites music, tradition and literature in an exceptional setting. Tomorrow, Saturday 22 March, the Castello di San Michele will host the Tenores di Neoneli, one of the most representative groups of Sardinian tenore singing, for an immersive experience of sounds, words and identity.

The event, entitled “Libros e Cantos” is a narrative journey that will cross the pages of the thirteen books published by the group during their long career .

From the social poetry of Versos de cuncordia (1994) to the more recent Raighinas e innestos (2025), the evening will pay homage to extraordinary figures who, despite not being born in Sardinia, have intertwined their lives with the Island: from Joyce Lussu to Gigi Riva, up to Fabrizio De André, who with his music and poetry has left an indelible mark on Sardinian culture.

The appointment is at 5 pm with a guided tour of the Castle of San Michele , one of the most fascinating monuments of the capital. Those who participate will have the opportunity to explore the history and legends that are hidden within the walls of this medieval fortress, discovering the secrets of a place that has experienced wars, sieges and transformations over the centuries.

After the historical journey, it will be time for music . Together with the Tenores di Neoneli, Orlando and Eliseo Mascia will perform, multi-instrumentalists and researchers of traditional Sardinian music, known for their ability to revive ancestral instruments and sounds, from launeddas to archaic percussion.

Active since 1976, the Tenores di Neoneli are among the most famous interpreters of the canto a tenore, a form of musical expression declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO . Their repertoire, however, is not limited to tradition: they have been able to innovate and experiment, collaborating with artists, such as Elio e le Storie Tese, of different genres and bringing the Sardinian language and culture to international contexts.
