There are those who have worked on it for 30 years, some for 20, some for less time and some since 1982, the year in which that hotel, the Panorama, was opened, the flagship of Cagliari's accommodation facilities. But now it's all over. The property, Sares srl, has decided: definitive closure and arrangement with creditors.

Covid and the 2020 closures have complicated a crisis situation already present before the pandemic. Employees have been on hold since last December 21st. And so a piece of the city's history, in Viale Diaz, will no longer exist. Unless you find a buyer. The 27 workers hope so, about fifteen of whom gathered outside the hotel this morning to be heard.

Arrears wages of 5 months but also of a year, thirteenth and fourteenth that do not arrive and the layoffs that expire on October 13th.

Salvatore Arippa, 58, is the delegate of Filcams CGIL; he worked at Panorama for 31 years as a bellboy: “There is a lot of talk about new hotels in the city, when it was enough for them to help those in crisis. The company will file the deeds of the liquidation agreement with the court and, if they fail to sell, the ball will pass to a commissioner. Meanwhile, they still owe us (in addition to various months, thirteenth and fourteenth) the severance pay and the pension fund ". Arippa also explains that the company has not responded to requests for meetings so far. Employees say they were not consulted by the property before deciding the final closure.

"The layoffs (from 600 to 850 euros) will end soon and we will not know how to get by," says Alessandro Frau, 52, for 29 floor clerk. He has a wife and a dependent child: "I expected someone to take an interest in our affair also on a political level, but nothing, they only show up when there are elections".
