The Lirico di Cagliari is preparing to celebrate, in 2023, the thirtieth anniversary of its spaces in via Sant'Alenixedda, a milestone also celebrated with the debut , in January, of its teams in Oman , at the Royal Opera House in Muscat .

The Cagliari Theater was inaugurated on September 2, 1993 , almost three decades ago. Today the sets of "West Side Story" by Bernstein - the musical that this month has enjoyed great success in the city - were the backdrop to the press conference which took place on the large city stage and which opened to the notes of Luca 's violins Soru and Svetlana Tsoneva.

"An anniversary that falls at a happy moment, with its new-found public and the great full house recorded for West Side Story", underlined the superintendent Nicola Colabianchi in announcing that with the new year the eagerly awaited Teatro Ridotto adjacent to 320 seats named after the great and unforgettable Cagliari soprano Carmen Melis . " In three months we hope to finally be able to open it - he underlined again - and it will be an important space that will host chamber music and opera concerts, rehearsals, meetings ". The thirtieth anniversary is also the right occasion to kick off the internationalization activity of the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari , interrupted by the pandemic.

In fact, everything is ready for the debut at the Royal Opera House in Muscat – in Oman – with Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore and a Gala Concert. It is the first time that the Lirico, with its stable artistic and technical teams, flies to the Arabian Peninsula.

The curtain of the prestigious Teatro dell'Opera will open on Thursday 5 January at 7 pm and on Saturday 7 January at 4 pm . To go on stage is the production of the Lirico who took the stage last March (and before that in October 2009 and in July 2015), which uses the direction of Michele Mirabella , well-known and appreciated director, author, theater actor , radio, cinema and television. The sets and costumes are by Alida Cappellini and Giovanni Licheri , the lights are by Franco Angelo Ferrari , shot by Andrea Ledda , while the choreographic movements are by Luigia Frattaroli .

The orchestra and choir of the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari are conducted by Maestro Jordi Bernacer , a young and appreciated Spanish conductor making his debut with Cagliari ensembles, while the choir master is Giovanni Andreoli .

L'elisir d'amore, one of Gaetano Donizetti's most refined works, especially for the orchestral writing, celebrates the composer's personal elaboration of the comic style. On Friday 6 January at 7 pm a Gala Concert is scheduled, entitled "Opera Hits!" , which still sees the orchestra and chorus of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari as protagonists, this time directed by the very young Gaetano Lo Coco in his debut with the Teatro di Cagliari. The evening offers the public famous arias, duets, choirs, symphonies and interludes, pages taken from the most loved works of the opera repertoire.
