Music as the engine and soul of spirituality, a tool for listening and caring for creation: the largest sacred music concert in Sardinia will be held on Saturday 20 July in Cagliari, with over 600 parishes from all over Sardinia and almost 1000 choirs invited.
“Mama, Fiza and Isposa de Su Segnore” is the title chosen for the event which will see the participation of 50 choristers from the Diocese of Rome directed by Maestro Mons. Marco Frisina, an internationally renowned priest, biblical scholar and composer, accompanied by 40 musicians from Conservatory of Music of Cagliari in an exceptional location, the Basilica of Nostra Signora di Bonaria.
For the occasion, Maestro Frisina reworked the well-known Sardinian composition “Deus Ti Salvet” for choir and orchestra. During the concert, Maestro Frisina's unreleased song "Christ is My Hope", presented a few days ago and dedicated to the Youth Jubilee, will also be presented for the first time.
Monsignor Baturi: «Singing is one of the most basic expressions for man, who uses it to convey his feelings. A community expresses its joy and pain by singing, in prayer singing becomes a manifestation of the relationship with God. And this is even more important in a historical moment characterized by wars, uncertainties, blood and pain. Saturday will be a moment of greater awareness, prayer and shared desire to build a better world."
Valentina Pistolesi, Head of Organizational and Legal Sustainability of 4Dharma: «The event aims to represent a moment of expanded participation and aims, in the perspective of the gift, to strengthen the sense of Community and Custody of Creation by conveying the deepest values linked to sharing of spaces and time which, also through music, becomes one of the most important social aggregators".
Don Mariano Matzeu, Head of Diocesan Youth Ministry and Regional Representative: «It is with profound gratitude that we welcomed the participation in Cagliari of Monsignor Frisina who will perform the Youth Jubilee Hymn for the first time, bringing the international atmosphere to Sardinia too of these meetings involving thousands of young people. Singing is a unifying element and becomes, in this context, the highest expression of prayer and the joy of being together."
Maestro Frisina, for the first time in Sardinia with the Choir of the Diocese of Rome , will be the protagonist of a whole day of work included in the event promoted by 4Dharma, a benefit company that stands out for its commitment to the regeneration of spaces urban, placing the Custody of Creation as a fundamental guiding principle, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Cagliari and with the Mercedari Fathers of Bonaria. The program has the patronage of the “Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina” music conservatory of Cagliari, of the “Le vie della musica” school of the parish of Santo Stefano in Quartu Sant'Elena and of the Baire transport company of Capoterra.
The concert, free while seats last, will be preceded in the afternoon at 4.30pm by the Masterclass "Music for the Liturgy", held by Maestro Frisina in the Aula Magna of the Diocesan Seminary and in which 400 choristers from all over Sardinia will participate. The event also represents a tribute to the memory of Don Alberto Pistolesi, who died in a tragic accident, who would have celebrated his 45th birthday today. Lover of music in all its forms and expressions, promoter of moments of sharing and great organizer of events with young people, Don Alberto Pistolesi left a rich spiritual and human heritage that still today keeps his memory and example alive.
