A local sanctuary not only for the alternative and metal scenes, but also for the more experimental sides of the island's sound: on Friday 23rd the doors of Fabrik in Cagliari open for a triple concert featuring the legendary Italian avant-garde of Simon Balestrazzi , the extreme noise of Corrado Altieri , aka Uncodified, and the droning research of Artificial Bride , in an off-the-beaten-track event at the usual address of Via Mameli 216, starting at 9pm.

The organizer of the evening, as well as its main artist, is Simon Balestrazzi : a composer and sound artist with a long career, already in 1981 among the founders of the influential, pioneering TAC (Computerized Axial Tomography), a collective of industrial musicians with a great focus on performance.

This was followed by his involvement with the chamber acoustics of Kino Glaz and the darkwave of Emilia Lo Jacono's Kirlian Camera , for whom he contributed to the electro-industrial turning point, after which he devoted himself mainly to a solo career in 1997.

In over forty years of activity, Balestrazzi has created his own sound language, between electroacoustics, improvisation and stylistic hybridisations , also composing for dance and theatre and always remaining away from the spotlight, in an aura of mystery that is a badge of honour in the post-industrial scene .

This has not prevented him from founding new formations – proudly fluid and creatively non-hierarchical – such as Dream Weapon Ritual, Candor Chasma or Hidden Reverse, nor from collaborating with a vast network of artists internationally, such as Z'ev, Ikue Mori, Damo Suzuki and Tim Hodgkinson, in a discography of over eighty titles .

Uncodified is the latest solo incarnation of electronic musician and professional experimenter Corrado Altieri, whose work began in the late 1980s. The new project is the logical conclusion of an artistic journey that has spanned the realms of Euro-Atlantic dark avant-garde, now embracing post-industrial and abrasive sounds typical of cult genres like power electronics and harsh noise.

And like any suitable interpreter of these tendencies, Altieri has published more than twenty releases under Uncodified , with labels such as Old Europa Cafe, Elettronica Radicale, Show Me Your Wounds and many others.

Just as numerous are his appearances at industrial and similar music festivals , such as United Forces of Industrial in London, Tower Transmission in Dresden and the Bologna Post Industrial Congress, as well as obviously the Signal Festival in the capital, a well-known showcase for Sardinian avant-garde.

A younger guest – but no less courageous in her experimentation – is Sara Cappai , formerly part of the Diverting Duo with Gianmarco Cireddu and active in the past with the solo project Ramplingg , in which she also collaborated with maestro Balestrazzi.

On Friday, however, he will play under the new name, Artificial Bride , with which he recently released the work " Figlia dei suoi tempi ": the result is a cold and spectral sound carpet, focused on layers of voices and synthesizers with a granular and alienating effect , thanks to the cassettes and loops used by Cappai also live.
