The Lirico di Cagliari is preparing for the inauguration of the " Teatro Ridotto ". The curtain will rise on 7 and 8 December , in front of an audience of 320 seats . The little jewel is located between the Theater and the open-air Arena in Piazza Nazzari . For the occasion and to close the year of celebrations of the thirtieth anniversary of the new Lirico, inaugurated on 2 September 1993 , a program was also set up from 2 to 8 December , including music, shows and meetings. The opening of the new structure, named after the unforgettable Cagliari soprano Carmen Melis, had been awaited for years.
«An important space that will host music concerts and chamber works, rehearsals, meetings. A space that increasingly opens up not only to the city but to the island and cultural realities", underlined the superintendent Nicola Colabianchi. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for Thursday 7th at 7pm (entry by invitation). Then at 8pm Daniel Smith will lead the Lirico Orchestra and Choir in a program which, in keeping with the event, begins with the overture to Beethoven's The Consecration of the House , continues with Mozart's Symphony No. 40 and closes with Handel 's Messiah: The Glory Of The Lord; Hallelujah and Zadok the Priest .
On December 8th, at 5pm, same program for the public. The program will start on December 2nd at 8.30pm, with the notes of Beethoven's ninth and the famous "Ode to Joy". Choir and Orchestra will be under the direction of the Spaniard Jaume Santonja, who will conduct La Bohème on 21 December. His is a welcome return after last spring's success on the podium at Lirico.
The week's program also includes two extra events, scheduled for December 5th and 6th. In the auditorium foyer in the lounge area there is space for talks on the themes of culture, theatre, music, sociality and sharing. On the evenings of 4 and 5 December (at 7pm) there will be space for music and an aperitif, with 2 concerts by professors of the Teatro Lirico Orchestra, in chamber ensembles, who will perform in 2 captivating musical programs of absolute value with the brass. Another appointment is scheduled for December 6th with OperaCena, the new viral format of the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari created by the creative Giorgio Pitzianti.
