The new president of the Cagliari Court of Appeal, Massimo Orlando, took office yesterday during a solemn ceremony, closed to the public, at the Cagliari Courthouse. The inauguration took place before the highest civil, religious, and military officials and all the heads of Sardinia's judicial and investigative offices. Orlando replaces Gemma Cucca.
Orlando served as a judge in the Courts of Tortona, Nuovo, and Lecce, before becoming a counselor at the Court of Appeal of Lecce in the second criminal section, then in the mixed division and the civil division from 2012 to 2018. (From 2013 to 2015, he was a magistrate in the Legislative Office, responsible for drafting regulations regarding civil enforcement, bankruptcy proceedings, honorary magistrates, and the trial office.) Subsequently, until December 2022, he served as President of the Court of Livorno, spearheading a series of innovations. He then served as Director General of Material Resources and Technologies at the Ministry of Justice, a department comprised of 107 employees (14 of whom were technical and the remainder administrative) and 7 managers (directors of the various offices, including the Naples branch). He has now been appointed President of the Court of Appeal of Cagliari.
