Eighty years have passed since the bombing of Cagliari. In memory of that tragic event, the Cada Die Teatro has given life to the project "Cagliari 1943/2023: war memories, peace paths", to keep alive the memory of the drama experienced by the city between February and May 1943 and to reflect on the current conflicts and the casualties they cause.

A wide-ranging project, conceived by the actor and director Pierpaolo Piludu, which envisages the staging of two shows (one of which has already been performed), and the re-proposition, in a renewed form, of the over 130 testimonies collected in the video archive resulting from a research work started by Cada Die in 2006, in collaboration with the Regional Higher Institute of Ethnography and with the Faculty of Cultural Anthropology of the University of Cagliari, and two other significant initiatives.

The shows

On the occasion of the anniversary that commemorates the bombing of 13 May '43, Sunday 14 May will be staged at the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari, at 8.30 pm, " Cagliari 1943: the war inside the house ", as part of "Pezzi Unici"/Rassegna Transverse, organized by Cedac. School matinees are scheduled for Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 May at 11, again at the Massimo.

The show, with dramaturgy and direction by Pierpaolo Piludu , was born from a theater workshop, directed by Piludu himself, with twenty students from the School of Performing Arts. This project to recover memories started last February with the show "Cielo nero", set up and recorded with a video in the Crypt of Santa Restituta, in the historic district of Stampace, which in 1943 had been transformed into an air-raid shelter .

The House of Memory

Since 2006 Cada Die Teatro, with the research work conducted by Pierpaolo Piludu, in collaboration with ISRE and with the Faculty of Cultural Anthropology of the University of Cagliari, has collected in a video archive a large number of testimonies of piciocheddas and piciocheddus de su '43 . Now the updating of this precious cultural heritage is foreseen, with the collaboration of the director Francesco Casu for the care of the multimedia part. By 2023, the video archive can be consulted, in its renewed form, in a space of the Cultural Center of La Vetreria : the goal is to lay the foundations for the creation of a "House of Memory" that can be consulted and fully enjoyed by all the citizens.
