Three stages for over forty artists, featuring music, sports, and socializing over ten consecutive days in the heart of the capital: this year, the "Ateneika" events, long among the most anticipated of the year and held entirely within the CUS Cagliari venue, return to Cagliari. This twelfth edition, from May 28th to June 6th, will once again feature Radiolina as the official media partner, including tournaments—with 2,400 registered participants and nearly 700 teams—side events, and concerts, with guests Ditonellapiaga, EroCaddeo, Giancane, and many others.
An inclusive and accessible festival, combining music, energy, and community, the program was officially presented Monday morning in the university rector's office. A promising new program for one of the most popular university events on the island: supporting the enormous effort are over two hundred and fifty volunteers and a special shuttle bus, specifically coordinated with CTM and guaranteed for each evening from midnight until 3:30 a.m. Furthermore, to address recent noise complaints from residents, the soundproofing equipment will be doubled, and the schedule will be strictly adhered to.
The music
The festival kicks off this Thursday with powerful selections from Harder Times veteran Marascia and fellow Bolognese DJ, producer, and radio host Rudeejay, aka Rodolfo Seràgnoli. The following day will be another evening of electronic music, with the island collective Radio Fortuna from the capital city preceding the highly anticipated performances by the Italo-disco duo Mind Enterprises, formed in 2012 by Andrea "Secco" Tirone and Roberto "Baffone" Conigliaro, and the newcomer Fenoaltea, a young artist from Palermo with international appeal. Saturday will focus on traditional sounds, with an eclectic set from Chroma Sound System and the stoner-tinged, noisy indie rock of Little Pieces of Marmelade. Sunday will close with the first major guest: the champion of the latest edition of X Factor, EroCaddeo, preceded on stage by Monza-born singer-songwriter Gioia Lucia.
The music will kick off again on Monday, with Radiolina's "After Class" event, bringing students and event attendees back to the dance floor in anticipation of the big week ahead. From the urban and independent sounds of Monday the 2nd, featuring the intellectual hip hop of Dutch Nazari, the combative songwriting of Giancane, and the militant and identitarian R&B of Shardàna, to the very recent electronic influences of Tuesday the 3rd with Faccianuvola and Bucato Fresco, through to the indie-pop of Ditonellapiaga and Sofia Gobbi on Wednesday, and the assault of the new generation of rap and trap with 18K, Marte, and Visino Bianco on Thursday. The Bolognese band Ama, combining rock and blues, and the nostalgic notes of Lacrima Party will close out the event in style.
Sport
Six university faculties will compete for the final award in the twelve sports disciplines on the field, with a program featuring over 1,500 competitions: five-a-side football, three-on-three basketball, dodgeball, fencing, tennis (including table tennis), volleyball, and badminton, as well as chess, foosball, briscola, and even e-sports. All in a format that aims to combine sports, live music, and active student participation.
