One hundred and two eggs skilfully "hatched" by 80 artists are the works on display at the Thotel in Cagliari from 16 March to 16 April presented yesterday. The “Uovo solidale” project was born from an idea of the Rotary Cagliari Amphitheater in collaboration with the Bartoli Felter Foundation, Tramare and T art, with the idea of promoting art in all its forms. «We decided to combine our passion for beauty with the idea of Rotarian service , making ourselves available to others and supporting charitable causes. Our non-profit organization, the Rotary Foundation, is among the most important in the world and allocates more than 92% of its revenues to situations of humanitarian need» explains the president Carla Maccioni.

The proceeds will be used, in this case, to help the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The works will be sold during a charity auction to be held at the Thotel on Friday 31 March at 6 pm, with the notary Ercole Bartoli as the auctioneer, with a starting price of 200 euros and raisings of 25. «The pieces in the auction were made by emerging artists , young or old, but also by highly rated, qualified and historical artists – explains Bartoli – Some have projected their expressive style into the egg and are very recognizable, while others have ranged with the imagination. The set of works is a unique result of its kind».

Unrepeatable designer pieces of great artistic and beneficial value. Starting from a simple white polystyrene egg, each artist has been able to express his idea of art with the most varied techniques and processes.

«Rotary has given us a great opportunity: to make our art available and, in this case, to lend these eggs to a charitable cause of great value. I have dedicated my two eggs, one to the land and one to the sea, which I hope will evoke the typical scent of Sardinia» says the artist Marcello Carrozzini, present at the inauguration.

Tiziana Sanna, on the other hand, mainly paints animals at risk of extinction and endemic animals of our land. To make his two eggs he has tried to keep the subjects he is familiar with and his distinctive stylistic code which tends towards hyper-realism. «My challenge was to be able to keep my personal artistic taste and paint subjects very dear to me on a spherical surface, I finally decided to paint the faces of a tiger and a jaguar».

"Sweet explosion" is the title of the egg by Alessio Carrucciu, who created a grenade that he "released" thanks to his personal and artistic experience. Diabetic for three decades, he spoke through his work of a sweet explosion that can cause both pleasure and pain. «The egg can be eaten, but deciding to do so leads to running the risk of defusing it and making it explode».

“Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” was instead the starting question for Roberto Meloni's idea. Her pop hen, with painted nails, dives into her egg to discover the universal dilemma. Federica Pilotta, who defines herself as a "serial collector" of materials, has instead covered her white egg with precious buttons, expertly set to make it a real jewel. These and many other ingenious interpretations on display for free at the Thotel in via dei Giudicati.
