Protest under the headquarters of Confindustria in Piazza Vittime del Moby Prince, in Cagliari . Workers in the telecommunications sector took to the streets to demand the renewal of the national contract, expired 27 months ago, and to denounce the blocking of negotiations by Asstel and Confindustria.
The initiative is part of the national strike called by Slc Cgil, Fistel Cisl and Uilcom Uil , with a demonstration involving thousands of Sardinian workers, part of a sector that employs 5,000 people on the island and 300,000 throughout Italy.
The main companies involved in the sector, from Tim to Vodafone, from Fastweb to Open Fiber, up to call centers like Konecta, Covisian and Concentrix, are called into question by the unions: "They must recognize the sacrifice of those who have faced the crises of the sector with responsibility", say the unions. The main problem? The abandonment of the negotiating table by the counterparts as soon as the debate on the economic part opened.
Also on strike today are the call center operators of companies adhering to Assocontact, who since March 1 have been classified with a contract contested by the unions. This new agreement, signed with Cisal, provides for worsening conditions: reduced payments in case of illness, fewer protections and a paltry salary increase of just 7 euros spread over three years (2025-2027).
"We must defend our contract tooth and nail," say union representatives, emphasizing that the battle is not just for wages, but for the dignity of work.
The hope is that the parties will return to the negotiating table to ensure a fair contract and to protect a strategic sector for the economy of the Island and the Country.
