They had promised them, thanks to the Region's contribution, and indeed, the discounts on the bills that Cagliari residents are receiving these days are there . "It seems like a joke, though," thunders Giuliano Frau, regional president of ADOC , a consumer association. "The municipality is announcing a discount on the Tari (waste tax)? We would have expected it to be appropriate. And instead, we're talking about very few euros," he adds. If we then factor in the national taxes, which the administration is required to pass on to Cagliari residents (this year they are €7.60), then it's understandable why the discount is reduced to just a few euros in some cases.
«This year, despite not being able to touch the PEF», the economic and financial plan, «our administration managed to perform a small miracle : that is, thanks to the transfer of municipal resources and also thanks to regional support for the anthropic load of the capital, we managed to lower the Tari for domestic users with reductions of up to 11% depending on the household and the dwelling», explains the councilor for Urban Ecology Luisa Giua Marassi .
But for many it is just "yet another hoax".
