A Cagliari in great difficulty loses the third consecutive match and does not score for the fourth day out of five. At the Domus Empoli wins 0-2 and the boos of the crowd are all for the rossoblù.
HERE ARE THE CAGLIARI REPORT CARDS
Nicola changes from Napoli, with Zortea and Makoumbou for Azzi and Gaetano. Before the start a minute of silence for Totò Schillaci, the hero of Italia '90.
A free kick scheme in the quarter of an hour puts Cagliari in difficulty, with the defense saving itself on the double rebound Mina-Deiola. Rossoblù response from a corner in the 18th minute, V ásquez fails but Goglichidze and Esposito block Luperto's header.
First half an hour with very few chances and many mistakes. Then, in the 33rd minute, Anjorin's vertical pass finds Colombo free in the center (Makoumbou keeps him in play, making a mistake on the line) and his shot goes past Scuffet for 0-1.
Makoumbou pays for his mistake and after the break he doesn't reappear, Pavoletti comes in. However, it's Empoli who scores in the 49th minute, with Esposito who on the first shot is stopped by Scuffet but takes the rebound, sits Luperto down and doubles the lead with his left foot.
At the hour mark Nicola takes off Luvumbo (never in the game) and Augello for Viola and Azzi, but Cagliari creates little or nothing. At 71' Gaetano also comes in for Marin, and the number 70 misses the 1-2 with an acrobatic play in the small area on a cross from the left.
After a goal disallowed for Empoli for offside, Lapadula comes in for Piccoli, the last change, with the Curva Nord not liking Cagliari's performance at all. Esposito almost scores a wonder goal in the 82nd minute, a right-footed shot just outside the top corner.
The ending, with a chance for Gaetano thwarted by Vásquez with the help of the post, does not change the story of a match badly interpreted by the rossoblù.
